How I feel about this character
I think it’s safe to say I adore femShep. Going off of what we know is canon for all femSheps, her strength really is something to look up to. Sure, everyone has different femShepards, but the one universal thing is that they’re a huge badass woman. I’m pretty damn sure that, in the face of so much, I’d never last. It takes a hell of a lot of will to stand for your beliefs in the face of so many closing their eyes and covering their ears to the truth.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Again, taking this ask as a femShep overall, then I’d say I ship her with pretty much anyone. Individually, I would ship a femShep with certain characters, but I think the way in which someone plays can determine the right fit. Do I have preferences? Of course, but we all know who that is. 😉
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Since I tend to always ship Garrus and my own femShep, I’ll go with the next character I’d choose. I may be prejudiced, but my favorite non-romantic partner to pair femShep with is Wrex. The development between them is just so fun because you can see how Shepard has a hand in giving Wrex the crazy idea to get out there and try to wrangle his people with the same goal of overcoming their violent nature and making their lives worth something. I don’t think that Wrex’s opinions of his people would have ever changed if not for the talks with and fights alongside Shepard. Then he is so happy to see you survived in 2, then coming to you with the last hope for his people and trusting you with it? That all just comes to a head when he calls you a sister. Plus, I won’t say it wasn’t funny as hell to have Wrex around in the Citadel DLC.
My unpopular opinion about this character
Hm… this one is a bit more difficult to answer given that most of what we all think about femShep is based on player choices. Just going off of what the games give us that we can’t change, Shepard is pretty damn bland and emotionless. Players make Shepard who they are with choices, so I can’t really say something I have an opinion on concerning the game Shepards beyond a gripe about a trend in the games. I know they have been written to make the player make their choices without consequence, but I really hated how, especially in 2, Shepard ended up being the final word in everyone’s own loyalty missions. I only ever saw one crewmember’s loyalty mission actually have a consequence based on their own personality, that being Zaeed’s. He reads as an actual person who disagrees and needs some convincing to let Vido go (for now, he actually says). Many characters don’t really bother me so much as my biggest peeve, Garrus’ loyalty mission. While he’d remain your friend, I’m sure, the simple ‘I don’t want to talk about it’ when you let Sidonis go has always bugged me. Writers all have their own explanation, but the game really just made everyone go along with Shepard’s decisions about their lives. Just doesn’t sit well with me that those missions didn’t have any sort of risk in your decisions and that, as a result, Shepard becomes always right.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon
While maybe not a good thing for a gamer, I wish Shepard had taken their death harder than ‘yeah, I died, but I’m okay now’. It would have been cool to have a bit darker of a game in two, but, eh, what can you do? Guess it’s probably something better for fics, anyways.
