49. What is their most valued object? Are they sentimental? Is there something they have to take everywhere with them?

For Cassia, it has to be a set of jewelry her parents give her when she hits ‘puberty’ age (9) on her birthday. She often plays with her mothers (few) pieces of jewelry, but, admittedly, Jane and Garrus were wary of giving her any while still in the destructive phase of her childhood. When puberty hits, she’s a bit calmer and at that age we all reach of understanding value in items that aren’t our favorite toy or the like. Plus, it’s also the age where she starts to choose her own clothing and make fashion choices. It’s then that they give her a set of necklace, bracelet, ring, and bands for her mandibles. All with small amethysts and pastel purple, turian stones. (Can everyone guess her favorite color?) She has other items, but that is the first real treasure she felt was all hers and no one else’s after sharing so much with her brother – which isn’t necessarily bad, but just needing a relief from.

So, yes, she’s sentimental. Especially with items that connect her to her loved ones. It can be anything from a place to a seemingly useless object, even if the person in question doesn’t share the same connection to it.

Now, for something she likes to take around with her. Hm… I’d say that, when not working, it would be something from that set above, even if it’s only a single piece. When she is working and unable to wear jewelry in battle, she will never be parted with the rifle her father gave her for her first ever mission. It was the weapon that showed her father believed in her ability to fend for herself without him beside her. Sure, she had her brother, but Damocles goes about battle very differently, so Garrus wanted to give Cassia the best weapon to be able to hold her own and feel powerful in an environment meant to be uncomfortable.

Now, for Damocles. He doesn’t necessarily have a valued object, per se, but he is sentimental in the form of tattoos over his hide and plates. It’s a bit of a human trait that he notices with his mother when she gets a few over the years of his youth, but it’s mostly a way of covering a body he is unhappy with, in making it seem a bit like something to be proud of.
