Once fully trained and experienced, do Cassia and Daomcles ever put their skills to the test against Jane and Garrus in training exercises/mock scenarios? Who is most likely to win, or are they pretty evenly matched?

Hmm … Good question. They train together, sure, but never actually challenged one another.

I think they might all be pretty evenly matched, though because they know each other so well. They know each other’s weaknesses to take advantage of and strengths to avoid.

Danocles, no question, has better biotics than his mom and sister, but both ladies use weapons where he treats a weapon like it’ll give him scale itch or something. His combat style includes physical combat in close quarters, but other than sparring, he wouldn’t be able to use that against his parents in a mock scenario.

Garrus, however, is the best at tactics. He can gauge the battlefield and though Cassia is smart, she doesn’t have the experience he has. The two of them are also pretty evenly matched in terms of snipping skills, but he’s got the more powerful weapon. She, however, has the added bonus of her biotics to make up for it. She would be closer to the equivalent of an adept than a vanguard like momma.

I think experience gives mom and dad their advantage where strength (physical and biotic) gives the kids one.

Thanks for the great ask! I can’t say too much more because it’ll be spoilers and not everyone wants those 😉

I just wanted to say I’m a massive fan of your work I love the Parable Series and I have just started reading the Umbrus Nocturni series and I’m loving it, it so dark and angsty it reminds me of Penny Dreadful in a way. I’m definitely excited for the update. 😘🤓 Xoxo

Thank you so much! Parable is my baby, so it’s really great to hear people enjoy it. I know it’s been around awhile and is absolutely huge, so I’m not all that surprised when someone goes ‘whoa, nuh-uh,’ lol.

I actually have never seen Penny Dreadful, to be honest. I will admit that Nocturni has a special place because of how unique the style is. It’s definitely a learning experience and a neat change in storytelling from Parable.

Well, that, and there’s turian vampires. Can’t forget that! XD

Nocturni Ask! Would they be able to eat stuff like dextro blood sausage or does it have to be pure blood? Since they’re near impervious to injury, would that mean that piercings or tattoos would immediately heal? Like many vampire myths, would animals native to Palaven instinctively fear them?

Would they be able to eat stuff like dextro blood sausage or does it have to be pure blood?

They could technically eat anything. However, a blood sausage has a small amount of blood in comparison to just drinking it alone. A Nocturni isn’t a bottomless pit for food, they can still get full of food that wouldn’t do them much good. With that, they’d get full from the added ingredients in the blood sausage instead of just blood alone.

That being said, it’s not completely off the table for a Nocturni to drink animal blood, but it tastes horrible. Also, a Nocturni doesn’t have to drain someone, but they tend to get gluttonous, so it often leads to death. A Nocturni could live off of small amounts if they really wanted to, though it’d be a lot harder for one who’s already been killing people. Sort of like an addiction.

Since they’re near impervious to injury, would that mean that piercings or tattoos would immediately heal?

I initially had an image of the cartoons where someone tries to stab something hard and the knife bends, lol. No, that doesn’t happen to a Nocturni. If you use enough force and strong enough metal, you can stab them. While they can heal much easier than normal turians, if the wound is bad enough, they will scar. I guess if one wanted to go through the work of it, they could have them so long as, in the case of a piercing, there’s something in the way to keep the wound from healing closed. Their bodies won’t reject ink or anything, just heal faster after a tattoo, so they don’t have to deal with that itchy period after, just the effort of finding a way to do it in the first place.

Like many vampire myths, would animals native to Palaven instinctively fear them?

I hadn’t thought of it, but sure. Why not? They certainly smell … off in comparison to a regular turian, so some animals may fear that. I think some of the predatory species on the planet may not directly cower from them, though. More like they’d probably be wary, forgo attacking a Nocturni when they’d be all on a normal turian. I guess you can consider that fear too, just a different kind of fear.

Thanks for the asks! They were fun!

1. Favorite place to write.2. Favorite part of writing.3. Least favorite part of writing.4. Do you have writing habits or rituals? xo

1. Favorite place to write:

I used to enjoy writing in my room late at night, but since moving to a new place, I found that I enjoy sitting on the couch with my laptop near and television playing in the background.

2. Favorite part of writing:

Getting to just plain create. I can build worlds, people, and stories from nothing but my imagination. It gives me a chance to just get my ideas out and destress from the day and real life.

3. Least favorite part of writing:

Actually writing something. I have chronic pain and take medication for it. Bad thing? It puts me in a mental place where I can just drift off midsentence if I’m not careful. I count myself lucky, though, because there are some horror stories of this stuff really making people lose their minds, lol.

4. Do you have any writing habits or rituals?

I have a bad habit of not editing my stuff before posting, if that counts? On the opposite end, I tend to either have the television on or the television on and headphones in playing some good music. I don’t know why I do that, though. Maybe for the visual too? Who knows.

Thanks for the asks!

Do you realize how awesome and talented you are or do you deal with impostor syndrome?

I feel like I should tell everyone that, yes, I really enjoy when you like something I’ve mad and I’m not being dismissive of you guys. I actually didn’t know what impostor syndrome was, to be fair. Looking at it now, though, I can see it in myself.

Writing and art are the major things I’m the worst at. I have a father that has to understand something to see the value in it. My mother was open and his complete opposite, but it’s always the one that talks loudest and with more enthusiasm, right? If I listen to different music, then it’s ‘devil music’ and if I watch a certain movie or show it’s ‘why I can’t sleep because it’s messing me up.’ I did good in school and that was fine for him, but I couldn’t build on what made me an individual without being made to feel like I was at some kind of fault for liking certain things. Even if he’s never seen my fics, he has seen my art before and his distaste was like a physical thing. ‘Why can’t I be normal?’ was something that believed. ‘Why can’t I find normal things interesting to draw? Why do I like aliens and monsters?’ It led me to be almost ashamed of what I write and draw because I dare to express myself and I hid it, writing or drawing in the privacy of my room late at night.

Being in a fandom is helping me to be more open, but I think my dad’s words make me fall into that comparison trap. I read that’s part of the impostor syndrome too, so I’m not surprised it happens together.

Again, to anyone reading this, know that I really am honored to be told I’m ‘awesome and talented.’ Really, I am and it’s a daily struggle to make myself believe it, so I’m grateful to the people who continue to try and hammer it home.

Thank you. For sticking to it even though I struggle to accept it and for saying it in the first place. I love you guys

Anyone want to send me asks? It could be about anything at all from me personally to my fics and characters. I’d love to hear from people!
