Tumblr Ask

L. Which character did you most write about this year, and why do you like ‘em?

I answered this one here, lovely 😉

V. Which story was the most viscerally pleasing to write? Tell us your narrative kinks.

No doubt this one goes to Nocturni. I love writing it and how it focuses on the senses, on creating that gross, dirty image of Omega. I always thought the game was so vanilla on Omega when it’s supposed to be a shithole rife with crime and corruption. I hope that’s coming across in the fic becaseu I sure as hell love writing the darker imagery in Nocturni.

Z. If you could choose one work and immediately finish it, what would it be? How would you end it?

I really wish the Fibonacci worldbuilding could write itself with all my ideas. It’d be so much easier and I could finally get to the actual fic. I can tell everyone without spoiler that the plot follows relatively close to canon, only with these different elements.

Thanks for the asks!

C. Get any good comments on your stuff this year?

Oh man, I got so many good ones that it’s so unfair to pick, but I’d have to say the little asks from Fibonacci anon have been so relieving to read. You know who you are out there and your lovely boosts of confidence when I feel like the worldbuilding has been bogging me down really help. Thank you, nonnie. (and everyone else, please don’t feel bad I didn’t call you out, but anon just stood out)

L. Which character did you most write about this year, and why do you like ‘em?

Hmm … Toughie. I tried to be mostly impartial to everyone. I think Arcellie had a lot of reader attention, but I think if I’m to pick my favorite OC, it has to be Damocles. I absolutely love that angry ball of fire, but he means so much to me because he’s a way to express my feelings about my bipolar disorder when it’s at its worst. He’s all my bad and I really want to make him happy in order to make me happy ❤

R. If you had to rewrite one of your stories from scratch, which one would it be? What would you do to it?

I’m kinda already doing this with Fibonacci. I love fantasy games, fics, movies, and television. I really love it better than sci-fi, funny enough, so Mass Effect being a fav is kinda surprising (moreso when you consider that I couldn’t get into Dragon Age. Don’t know how that happened). I figured that focusing on personality changes wasn’t going to make me as happy as creating a fantasy world from Mass Effect world be and I didn’t want to overwhelm both myself and readers by trying both. So fantasy elements it is!

Thanks for the asks, lovely!

N & U for the End of Year Meme?

N. Anything you were planning to write that never got written?

I guess I could go with Fibonacci? I mean, it will be written, but it’s taking a lot longer to plan out because I’m weird and want to create mostly new lore to fit the new fantasy world.

Another idea I had was a more angsty fic during the second game where Shepard, for some reason, met Morinth before ever knowing about Samara. Morinth joined the crew, but being the bitch she was, used the relationship budding between Garrus and Shep to torture Shepard for the hell of it. She used her magic Ardat Yakshi powers to seduce and corrupt Garrus into ‘falling in love’ with herself.

When it came time that Shepard found out that Morinth was abusing Garrus and probably bound to kill him when she got bored, she killed the bitch. Only it angered Garrus because Shep killed the woman he loved. He finished the mission, but never forgave Shep, even only going onto the ship with Victus because he didn’t trust her not to kill the Primarch for whatever reason. Shit went downhill and Shep tried to convince Garrus to forgive her, ending up with Garrus threating that if he ever saw Shep again outside of their mission, he’d kill her.

End of the war and Samara hunts down Garrus when she hears about the situation as a way of thanking Shepard for doing what she could not and killing Morinth. She manages to find a way to break the hold Morinth had on Garrus – I’m thinking through some Ardat Yakshi priestesses – and, guilt-ridden because he thought Shepard died, takes it upon himself to hunt for any traces of her and, if he could find her, to give her a final rest in peace.

Only he does find her alive, but hurt and in a hospital under the guise of a Jane Doe thanks to Liara finally giving Shepard a way to find some peace and quiet from responsibility. After losing and being threatened by death from the love of her life, Shepard just waits for the end or until she can have enough strength to do it herself until Garrus tracks her down.

The first words she says to him are, “You finally came to kill me.”

The fic would be a way for me to either get out of that hole I dug with them for a happy ending, or I’d leave it there.

U. Any stories that took an abrupt U-turn from where you thought you were going?

Oh boy. Fibonacci fits that perfectly. True, it’s still under work, but it originally started as something much simplier with the catch being that I switched around personalities of the crew. For instance, Garrus was Jack, etc. But that started to not feel right. I could have started from the beginning and achieved the idea, but coming in so late and having to explain seemed like it’d take precident before the actual fantasy element. I chose what appealed to me more, the fantasy, and stuck to mostly canon for backstories and personalities.

Thanks for the asks! It was so fun ❤

An OC of your choice: 3 & 13 for the ask about my oc?

I’m going to go ahead and do my main four. I loves them so much.

3. Religious beliefs?

Aeson – Aeson doesn’t think too much about religion, but he has been known to show respect to the Spirits during certain occasions, like deaths, births, certain days of showing respect, and appealing to the Spirits for help on something. If the latter, he usually spends some time afterward to show respect instead of just getting what he wants and moving on.

Cassia – She believes in people worshipping their chosen religion. She acknowledges that there must be something out there, but she’s open to everything. She tends to do her best to respect people’s preferences and even reads up on them if she’s going to be involved in say a religious ceremony, but she will admit that if she doesn’t know enough about the religion, she will usually say so and offer to respect them in one she is more knowledgeable with.

Damocles – He hates religion, thinks it’s a stupid waste of time that makes people act like idiots, and doesn’t involve it in his own life. He doesn’t call out someone on their beliefs, choosing to stay out of any debate when he knows people are already set in their ways, but he’ll change that decision the moment someone tries to force it on him. When you show yourself to be a zealot, you better be ready for a fight and he’d be much for accepting of religion if people would get their heads out of the asses and those kind of people never existed.

Saren – Saren sees a lot of redundancies in religions, but he understands the purpose of believing in higher powers. He knows that people need hope to explain that which they can’t understand, so he accepts it when people choose to turn to belief instead of simply accepting that not everything has an explanation until people gain more information. I guess you could say he’s skeptical of religion, but respectful towards those who aren’t.

13. Is there anything you would have changed about your OC?

I probably won’t have many answers for this since they’re all still pretty fresh on the dawing board and nothing is yet set in stone.

Aeson – I didn’t initially have Aeson as Sidonis’ son, but I thought it’d be such a good little twist for the sons of such a disfunctional relationship to be mates.

Cassia – Surprising enough, the twins were to be two males, but I thought that’d be boring. Cassia has just grown so fast that I’m happy I went with it. (She’s also named after my boyfriend’s go-to character creator name,Cassius, only a feminized verision)

Damocles – I was debating making him half blind, his wound damaging his eye. I’ve had some readers adamantly say no to that evil idea, so it looks like having it a simplier wound was the way to go, lol

Saren – When I was working with @felixenna about Saren, he originally wanted a daughter of Arcanus. I went nope and said we’re having a son, so Saren was born.

Thanks for the asks!

11 for the parents of the main OCs ^ ^

11. Birthday!

I’m sure it goes without saying that everyone enjoys a good ol birthday sex, but here’s specifics.

The Vakarians are more used to the idea of birthdays than the other families because they’ve been a couple longer. Granted, it took a long time to get used to it themselves because Jane didn’t have any idea how to have them because of her bad childhood. The time on the Normandy helped and she and Garrus learned side by side. They both like to get away from everyone, Jane making Garrus a dinner for his birthday and him ordering in (because he sucks at cooking). A romantic dinner is perfect when on Virmire, but they may go do something special and more impromptu when visiting some place.

Ellie and Arcanus tend to do the same with a romantic dinner, most times cooking together, but they tend to plan ahead to take a vacation away from Virmire and work, even if it’s just a few days. They tend to go to the theater for grand shows or take part in something specific to one of their species so the other can see about their culture. Arcanus took some time to get used to the idea of celebrating, but once Ellie gave him these ideas, he admitted that there is some good in this whole celebrating thing.

Sidonis and Aelia (Victus) have no idea what birthdays are, but there were some times where Aeson was a kid that he wanted one thrown. The Vakarians and other humans usually set it up, but they couldn’t say no to giving their son gifts for no reason at all. I swear, he was so spoiled as an only child (and still kinda is) it’s a shock he’s so humble as he is, much to Damocles’ appreciation and comfort.

Thanks for the ask!

10 and 14 for all of your main OCs please :)

I’m going to do my twins and their boos, if that’s alright. They’re the most fleshed out OCs as of now. 🙂

10. How does your OC react to when they’re embarrassed?

Aeson – Aeson does the closest thing to a blush for turians (fluttering mandibles and ducking his head, shoulders hunching) and tries to avoid attention. He’s really cute about it and tries to melt into the floor.

Cassia – Cassia will usually flutter her mandibles in a blush and giggle slightly, but she doesn’t take it too hard on herself. She knows people make silly mistakes and so long as it isn’t something she needs to immediately fix, she’s fine with showing her embarrassment.

Damocles – Damocles refuses to be embarrassed. He rarely does something he doesn’t fully intend to do, but if something happens outside of his control, it’s best you not poke fun unless he does first (and that’s usually around those he really trusts).

Saren – Saren doesn’t know the meaning of ‘embarrassed,’ so no comment.

14. If you could compare your OC to an animal what would it be?

I actually had to do some digging into animals for these answers and I think I got everyone as closely as I can, but I’m sure there’ll be a better idea after I post this, lol

Aeson – I wanted to make everyone some epic animal of the wild, but I can’t see Aeson as a truly wild animal. It’s just not in his nature, so the closest animal I can imagine him being is ‘man’s best friend.’ He’s fiercely loyal and always sees the good in his loved ones, and he’s just plain happy to be with them. And who doesn’t love dogs?

Cassia – I actually flipped around with her. She’s just so bubbly that she would make an excellent dolphin, so I had to go with that. She’s smart, friendly, and just plain easy going, but you can underestimate her. Dolphins can hold their own and she’s no different.

Damocles – Haha. He’ll probably hate me, but he is without a doubt a wolverine. He just never backs down even when he’s facing something clearly so many times bigger than himself. That give no shits attitude in a fight definitely fits him and well, we all know he’s got a temperament fitting a wolverine.

Saren – Saren is definitely a solitary tiger. He is just solitary enough that most don’t even know much about him, but he’s fierce when you finally do come face to face. He doesn’t look for a fight, but he sure as hell will finish it.

Thanks for the asks! It was really fun!

I JUST FINISHED READING, NEGLIGEE FOR ARCANUS AND THE REST THAT COMES AFTER THAT. I MUST SAY FOR THE OLD COUPLES, THEIR SEX LIFE STILL ROCKS! USUALLY, AROUND THEIR AGE SEX TO THEM IS DEAD.

Haha, thanks!

I don’t know if they should really be called old, though. They’d probably pass out if anyone called them old, lol.

If you consider the 150-year lifespan of Mass Effect humans and turians, I’d like to think it’s less just extending the old age years and more of a vitality thing that’s relative to the extended lives.

For instance, if you’re 60 now, you’d be considered up there in the years because average lifespans top out at 80. But if we look at it by multiplying it to reach 150, age 60 for Mass Effect would be closer to 32 for us. That’s still pretty young for them.

I’m sure that might not be how Bioware intended, but I find it very hard to believe (and stupid if true) that we’ve only extended our years as our we are now. It’d give us so much time with frail bodies that I have to believe that aging is relative to the advances we’ve have made to extend our lives, focusing on taking advantage of those vital years where our bodies are able to perform without too much taxation on ourselves.

What is prince Garrus from Fibonacci’s idea of a perfect date? If Jana’s idea is different what’s a perfect date for them?

Garrus usually caters his dates to suit his partner. He is a bit selfish and would want to take her somewhere he can show off the beautiful woman on his arm, but the after is what’s important. He’d want to take her flying, holding her close as he takes them to a high point to look over the city or landscape depending on where they are. He sees it as a way to show her a world she can’t see without wings.

Jana isn’t quite sure what kind of date they could have in his world, but she’d love to be taken to see sights not found in her universe. Or, they’d be hard to find. Like a festival or such. She’s not one for gatherings in her time, but she wouldn’t be against going to a royal gathering, at the side of a Prince as an average person not even part of the world. Although afraid of heights, she’d eventually come to love his idea of getting as high as possible to look down at the world.
