I don’t mean to be rude, and I mean absolutely NO offence to ANYONE who likes this HC… but the mere idea of this really gives me a headache. 

Like, I am so so SO sure I’ve explained this before but I do not subscribe to this “human adopting turian colony markings” thing. 

In actual fact, I really hate it and I honestly cannot think of anything more offensive to a turian than having a NONE-turian adopting something specific to their culture be that through marriage or whatever. What do we call it… cultural appropriation? Misappropriation…? I forget. Something like that anyway. 

In short, dear nonny because I know this ask was kindly meant and I mean no offence at all if you like this sort of thing, Sophie is not a turian, she was not born into a turian colony and so will never EVER adopt turian colonial markings.

if that’s Nonnie’s HC then awesome, but some of us find it very very weird…

I HC that colony paints are a tradition for turians to show loyalty. It’s one thing to say you fight for your people, but if you can be proud enough of your home to show on your face, saying ‘hey, this is my home, this is where I fight for.’ That’s why I never see any non-turian species having them. It’s not family markings or even something all members of a family wear from the same location, but it’s a visible show of pride in their people’s customs.
