I was tagged by the too sweet @bronzeagelove so here’s a sentence from Nocturni 🙂

Ares

Would they prefer a lie over an unpleasant truth?

Don’t lie to him. He wants to hear it. Say whatever you have to say to his face. He takes anything else as an insult to his ability to accept something just because he wouldn’t like it.

Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists of numbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, putting things into melodies, etc.)?

Since he was a kid, he’d remember things out of sheer obsession. He zeroes in on something that it becomes burned into his brain. He used to use anagrams as a kid, but now it’s mostly just going into a scary place in his head where all that matters in the information. It’s pretty freaky, really

How do they feel about children?

Why are you excited about this character?

I can do things with Ares that I wouldn’t want to do in my other fics. I wouldn’t want a sociopath like Ares hanging out with my characters because, let’s face it, that’s really unhealthy. lol

Are they someone you would get along with?

Hell no. He’s a maniac and an asshole. No thank you

Would they get along with you?

I think they’d tolerate me if they had to for the sake of someone else. Oh, he’d know I don’t like him, but it’s not like I’m outright saying anything to him about it. He’s fine with that.

What trait of theirs bothers you the most?

Everything, lol. Picking one, though? I’d have to say the major thing that irks me is his inability to understand emotions or emotionally connect to someone like a normal person. He doesn’t understand why some people act the way they do, doesn’t have personal experience. He views things by definition, so what the word of an emotion means, but not necessarily how it makes people feel. He doesn’t get much beyond things like anger or curiosity (which is usually subdued compared to others unless it becomes obsession).

What trait do you admire most?

This is a difficult question. Hm … I think I admire his views on trust. To him, trust is everything. It means more to him than, say, love or affection. If he has your trust, then he can know just how much you mean to him. Love is an emotion, but trust means you are putting your life in someone else’s hands. It sometimes makes him more devoted to those he does trust, often times helping him in overlooking people’s annoying quirks that would usually turn him off in anyone else (or get the other person killed, lol).

1. My pupper makes me super happy. He’s been with me through my major surgeries back in ‘09 and ‘10 and he’s just been my bud ever since.

2. I enjoy writing and all that comes with it like world building and -I admit I have a problem with- getting art of my characters. I sometimes make my own too, but there’s something about that excitement and drum roll before seeing what someone else has done, how they have interpreted my characters.

3. My internet friends make me so, so happy. I love all of y’all and probably wouldn’t be able to get through my own real life problems as well as I am without you guys. ❤

4. I’m happy that I have a stable life now after my parent’s divorce and mother’s move to a new place with me. I have a loving boyfriend too who even encouraged me to get into fanfiction that started it all even though he doesn’t read it himself. Even my mother is understanding, so I’m happy for all of that.

5. While not the final thing I’m happy about, I’m going to say that I really enjoy the ME fandom. There are some bad apples out there, sure, but the majority of wonderful people out there (even if we aren’t mutuals) really make the fandom a great and open place. I tend to surround myself with those kinds of fans and it’s really neat to see all the similarities and differences in views and ideas when it’s addressed in a civilized and open manner.

More than anything, though, I love all you guys!

How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)

Arcanus is what I like to call a high-class, hard working man. He has a bad habit of diving into work and not coming back out until someone comes in and reminds him that ‘yeah, he needs to eat and sleep, you know.’ Time before bed is one of the rare occasions he lets himself relax. When he and Ellie haven’t fallen asleep after some activities, Arcanus likes to read before going to sleep. He’s a huge buff about non-fictional topics, from reading news to biographies to history. He loves history from across all species and various topics, so he’s bound to be reading something about that.

What inspired you to create them?

I’ve actually said before that he was originally an OC from @felixenna‘s RPing unrelated to me and Parable. I had extended an offer to readers to include an OC, but made people aware that, while I will stick mostly to what the reader has, I will mold them to fit what I need from the character. Arcanus was given to me with some basic ideas, but I like to think he’s become my own, at least where Parable is concerned. Felixenna had told me about his backstory, battle skills, and basic personality and he’s grown from there into Parable Arcanus, lol.

4. Physically strongest/most fit?

Oh, without a doubt, this is Damocles. He’s huge and he knows it. He’s worked his whole life to physically better himself and his human genes definitely helped him to be one big guy. Hell, his combat style is mostly hand to hand in a fight along with his biotics, so he knows how to use all that muscle.

Gives the best hugs?

Cassia. Plain and simple, lol. She’s so easy going and didn’t grow up with that turian way of usually hiding public shows of affection. And she just plain gets along with everyone, so she’s learned how to give the best hugs, from soft ones of friendship to suffocating bear hugs of excitement. Second would be Ellie, but she only does it to those close to her whereas Cassia will do it with everyone who lets her

Who is the most physically affectionate?

Cassia again. She just sees touch as a way to show love and care, so it’s not something that she consciously thinks about. It can be something as simple as grabbing people’s hands to hugging and kissing, so she can be quite affectionate. I think a lot of it also comes from seeing her mom and dad being like it with each other and she added that to her overall friendliness.
