I’m going to go ahead and do this for my ‘youngbloods’ (the twins, Aeson, and Saren) 🙂
Aeson
Aeson is a bit of a romantic. He’s shy, however, so his affection comes very subtly. He admires people easily and trusts perhaps too easily. He looks past faults, seeing them as just another part of someone, and, though he doesn’t really have ‘relationships’ as we know it, he is a good guy even to those he blows off steam with. Usually, he’s a friend first before sexual partner to those he does sleep with. He doesn’t really have a romantic relationship with these people, however, because his heart is already set on Damocles. It has been for a very, very long time. Pretty much since he was old enough to begin to think about that sort of thing. The only thing giving him a bit of a boost in the little things of affection is the fact that they have been inseparable friends since young kids. He isn’t entirely out there with his attraction, but knowing Damo helps him do those little things where anyone else not his best friend would scare him off.
Cassia
Boy, this girl is the typical hopeless romantic. Granted, she’s grown up around her parents who seem to be like two sides of the same coin, but she has a very unimaginable idea of love. She is perfectly capable of having friends, and lots of them, but she never had that immediate love (or even any love for that matter) until it was – corny as it is – love at first sight with Saren. She’s demi, so sex isn’t something huge in her life, but friendship and devotion is. She didn’t initially understand why she was stumbling over herself with him until a friendship formed between them, then she realized she loved him. However, given how emotionally inexperienced Saren is, she hasn’t put standards or expectations on him concerning love. She’s come to the conclusion that, for as long as he wants her around, she will be the best thing he could possibly imagine, even if he didn’t know it.
Damocles
Damocles has come to the conclusion that he won’t find love outside of a familial one. He’s just been burned so long in his life that he’s come to believe no one wants anything to do with him if it involves spending more than the few hours to have sex. He knows people only want him because he is damn good at it, but he doesn’t ignore the fact that there are quite a few who treat the encounter like a last ditch effort and can’t seem to get away or get him away fast enough. How can someone ‘love’ him if they can’t even stand to look at him once they get what they want? He’s set himself up for that pain and doesn’t believe in this undying devotion that is love can include him, so he doesn’t ‘fall in love’ easy at all. In fact, he doesn’t realize it until it practically slaps him in the face that he has, in fact, been in love for quite some time. It just came about subtly and very different from he’s seen in vids.
Saren
Saren, much like many other emotions, doesn’t understand what ‘love’ is outside of a definition. However, from a writer and reader’s view, he falls for Cassia pretty early as well. He cares more for her well being than anyone else, will do pretty much anything for her. In fact, she’s the only one that can get away with some of the things she does to him. For instance, she’s the only one who can actually get him to put down his work and go out – even to a crowd! – while even his own father can’t convince him. He admits she’s important to him before he realizes it’s actually what love is. He also admits a fault that confuses him because he can’t explain why he acted the way he did, and thus, how to fix it. Little does he know you can’t fix love.
Thanks for the asks!
