Arcanus: “It was on a night where I was treating Elyse to a very traditional turian ceremony celebrating the end of the war while on Palaven. We were meeting with some very important figures and she felt the need to ‘gussy’ herself up. I do not know much about human ‘makeup’ practices, but I know she was putting a thicker coat of it on that night. I walked into the room hearing her mutter under her breath as she rubbed what must have been at least the second attempt to achieve whatever she was after. Seeing my amusement at her muttering, she turned to me and said something about not seeing her while she ‘looked like a raccoon.’ It is not common to find her distress amusing, but I found her half smeared paints quite a different matter.”

“Lots of times! He’s so sweet and always let’s me drag him along to fun stuff. In sex, he roleplayed old timey human royalty with me, even if he didn’t quite understand completely without plenty of research about it 🙄 It was a whole day that ended up with us having some royal ‘celebrations’ afterwards. Another huge fantasy is an equally royal wedding. I hope Saren goes for it one day!”
Saren: how is sex with Cassia different from past turian partners? And have you ever said/moaned out something during that was embarrassing? Arcanus: what would say is the most risqué thing you and Ellie have ever tried? (Sexually I mean). Also, Have you ever had to fight to stay behind your plates while at work because you were thinking of your mate?
Saren isn’t all that bothered by this. With turians being so open to sex, it’s like any ole conversation.
Saren: “I have never said anything embarrassing and I mean everything I say. I’m not one to blurt out something without thought.”
(Which is a bald-faced lie)
Saren: “I don’t know how to describe what it feels like with Cassia. She’s better at explaining it than I am, but I don’t think this is something she wouldn’t be all that willing to talk about. She’s understanding, but I think she’s hiding something when she hears of my stress relief. I guess that’s part of what’s different., I care about what she thinks and feels. She’s … important and I find myself caring more about her than myself, which makes it seem more fulfilling.”
Arcanus is much like Saren. Sex talk isn’t off the table, but it cannot be demeaning to Ellie’s human sensibilities.
Arcanus: “I do not find much ‘risqué’. However, I believe the time Ellie was both embarrassed and aroused when we had sex during an opera viewing would qualify for her. We were located in a private section of the auditorium. It was her idea and I quite enjoyed it, but it was obvious she was unsure whether she was more excited or concerned by the possibility of being caught.”
“She has made it quite difficult to maintain my composure at work before. The most memorable was when I was on a vidcall with an important client and I was reminded of our very memorable morning in an elegant Citadel penthouse hotel. 6. What makes this fic special or different from all your other fics?
I’m going to have to say the whole idea of it being in a fantasy setting is the biggest difference. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say again how fantasy/medieval stuff is actually more appealing to me than sci-fi. Mass Effect is really the only thing that really made an impact, but most of all my other stuff is like the complete opposite. I thought maybe it’d make a neat AU, and you had the original idea of two realities coming together in the first place 😉
12. What do you like least about this fic?
How long it’s taking to get to actually writing it! Does all the extra work I’m making for myself count too? I don’t blame the fic, but more myself for starting this grand idea because now I can’t put it down.
14. Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic?
Hm … learn? I don’t know of anything off the top of my head besides just sharing my worldbuilding eventually in both the fic and separately. I don’t know if anyone’s interested in a type of wiki of sorts for the fic, but it’s how I’ve been working out the worldbuilding for myself.

7. Where did the title come from?
Funny enough, the idea of turian vampires came about during an RP with a friend. I don’t quite remember who had the idea of it or where it came from, but I liked it enough to think of an actual fic for it.
The name itself came from fudging some latin around until it sounded good.

9. Were there any alternate versions of this fic?
I guess you could say the RP plot and design of the Nocturni would count for this. I can’t quite remember the plot we had because it was a few years ago, but they didn’t look anything like this fic’s Nocturni.
Whereas I took inspiration from the wonderful @saphistar ‘s art of her unique design of ‘Rocky’ turians, my RP partner chose to make them more monstrous in a hidden way. He designed them after the Reaper vampires from Blade 2. Truly ugly things, they were, with their opening maws. I think the overall look of something huge and intimidating was better than a hidden mutation. Plus, you can’t kiss a turian when their whole bottom jaw dislocates and splits in half! XD

Iris: Do you prefer writing about a man or a woman character? Why?
This is a hard one. I really like both when it comes to character development because I think it depends more on the character than the gender when I write them. I will admit I find it easier to write smut from a woman’s POV, for obvious reasons (I’m a woman).
Water lily: What helps you get through writer’s block?
If you have the answer, I’d love to hear. XD But honestly, when my mood isn’t the problem, I tend to jump to something else until ideas pop into my head. Even if it’s not writing, sometimes a different thing occupying my mind acts like a good ol’ fashioned brain scrub and I can have a new look when I come back to the fic giving me problems.

I’ve been doing more thinking than actual writing, but I have come to some neat conclusions about lesser OCs for Parable I thought I’d share.
Gelta has taken piloting lessons from Joker and Aelia. She’s a curvy woman who loves the ladies and she’s more open to FWB than Cassia is. She likes to avoid hurting anyone she’s in a relationship with, so she has a slightly bad habit of letting women overshadow her wants in a relationship. That is until Cassia, Alexia, or Mimi step in, then Gelta completely trusts their judgement. Her friends often come in between her love life because of this closeness, but it’s safe to be said that her few exes never left on bad terms because it’s just so damn hard to stay mad at her when things didn’t work out.
Alexia and Mimi both work in the clinic under Elihu, but Alexia focuses more on being a combat medic and keeping her fellow fighters alive until help arrives, Mimi stays aboard any ship or planetside to focus on the more specialized treatments. Alexia also knows cybernetics better than Mimi, but leaves the actual implementation into patients to Mimi. Mimi and Alexia like to tease one another over their hair, breasts, makeup, and other human-centric things and are practically inseparable, that and their closeness making them have a special connection even with the already tight group they all share with Cassia and Gelta.
Jur’uk (Gelta’s Brother) stays on Virmire to work and learn beneath a Wraith architect. He starts out in construction for the man’s new buildings and eventually gains his attention when Jur’uk shows great skills at mathematics and physics as well as interest in structural design.
Uriet (Turian Bully) goes through rough teenage years and young adulthood, turning to drugs and alcohol to cope. He spends most of his time under the influence and only changes his ways when he comes close to overdosing. He then cuts back his drug use to cigarettes and the occassional beer. Turning over a new leaf, he’s determined to make up for his failings, the first step changing his name (I haven’t decided what yet, but ‘new beginning’ will be the meaning). He comes to Damocles and personally asks for the chance to show he’s a new turian, not afraid to face the fact that he’s under constant scrutiny until he proves himself. He employs an omnishield in battle alongside a heavy machine gun assault rifle.
Srack plays a part in the next fic, but I can’t exactly give how. Just know that he still holds a grudge against the ‘mutant’ Vakarian twins.
That’s all I got so far, but I thought there may be some people out there who might like to know about some of the new faces in Parable 😉

1. What inspired you to write the fic this way?
I actually owe the answer to this question in part to @hoxadrine . They had a prompt list a way back and this prompt asked ‘What if’ with a Shakarian in one universe that lost Garrus and a Shali in another that lost Tali coming together. The fantasy element came from me playing The Witcher 3 at the time of seeing the prompt, so I thought, why not?
I actually love fantasy themed media more than sci-fi, which is funny with Mass Effect being so important to me. This fic is probably undergoing to much worldbuilding because of this love.
9. Were there any alternate versions of this fic?
Going off of above, I’d say the alternate version would have been going straight sci-fi with both universes. I probably would have changed some things in the story, but this way I can leave the basic story as we all know it, but tell it in an entirely new way.
Juxtaposed
2. What scene did you first put down?
I write pretty linear and it’s been a while since I wrote Juxtaposed so long ago I can’t exactly remember if there was an idea that immediately comes to mind as ‘the beginning.’ I guess the introductions would have to be my first written scene.
5. What part was hardest to write?
The vows were difficult for me. Hell, the whole wedding was. I felt really foolish trying to write a romantic situation without really knowing how a wedding goes or what readers would think is sweet. Kinda weird to presents vows to myself as two different people, even species.
