WafflesRock: I’m always curious about your OCs! 1) Fibonacci — what does king Castis think of Garrus falling in love with Jana? 2) Nocturni — how close are Saren and Nihlus? Father/son relationship or just work associates? 3) Parable — one thing guaranteed to pull Saren away from work? Does Arcanus have a guilty pleasure? What’s Damocles’ favorite movie?

Fibonacci – Primarch Castis is just plain happy someone seems to be able to calm his son down. Instead of focusing on creating huge and wild parties, Garrus seems to be focused solely on impressing and treating Jana. It certainly leaves Cipritine in a much better state than after a party, lol

Nocturni – I’d say the relationship between Nihlus and Saren isn’t quite father/son. They aren’t that far apart in ages, so it’s more mentor and protege, maybe so far as older and younger brother. Nihlus wants to prove that Saren didn’t waste his time training him to hunt Nocturni and he certainly doesn’t want to keep disappointing him by losing Cydian. Cydian is Nihlus’ chance to show he doesn’t have to work in Saren’s shadow and by the Spirits, he’s going to kill her one way or another.

Parable – The only thing capable of dragging Saren from work is Cassia, even if she’s not personally there or physically getting in his way. Even people using her name and person to convince him can usually work.

Arcanus doesn’t have any kind of grand kink or anything, but we all know he loves his Nullis Secundi (I’m too lazy to check my own spelling). One thing he loves to do is find a good read, settle into a comfortable chair with a glass of Secundi, and only stop if Ellie comes around. Ellie, without a doubt, is his most guilty pleasure 😉

Damocles’ favorite movie is a tie between LOTR and Fight Club. If he could, he’d definitely be one to find such a club and join himself, but most on Virmire are so intimidated by him that he probably would never hear of one near home if it existed.

I JUST FINISHED READING, NEGLIGEE FOR ARCANUS AND THE REST THAT COMES AFTER THAT. I MUST SAY FOR THE OLD COUPLES, THEIR SEX LIFE STILL ROCKS! USUALLY, AROUND THEIR AGE SEX TO THEM IS DEAD.

Haha, thanks!

I don’t know if they should really be called old, though. They’d probably pass out if anyone called them old, lol.

If you consider the 150-year lifespan of Mass Effect humans and turians, I’d like to think it’s less just extending the old age years and more of a vitality thing that’s relative to the extended lives.

For instance, if you’re 60 now, you’d be considered up there in the years because average lifespans top out at 80. But if we look at it by multiplying it to reach 150, age 60 for Mass Effect would be closer to 32 for us. That’s still pretty young for them.

I’m sure that might not be how Bioware intended, but I find it very hard to believe (and stupid if true) that we’ve only extended our years as our we are now. It’d give us so much time with frail bodies that I have to believe that aging is relative to the advances we’ve have made to extend our lives, focusing on taking advantage of those vital years where our bodies are able to perform without too much taxation on ourselves.

Actually, I hadn’t planned to write Jane and Garrus after Juxtaposed. I thought no one would be interested in reading the games through my writing. When I did start to write Genesis, I was introduced to the idea by a friend and hadn’t thought too much about it. I’m actually not a kid person at all and really didn’t imagine Jane and Garrus having any. Although, the thought of baby turians appealed more to me, so maybe it’s just human babies I don’t like, lol

Towards the end of Genesis, I started to think about how I could go about it. I’m only a fan of hybrids when it’s done in a reasonable way. Some hybrids I’ve seen are frightening and I didn’t want that, so I delved into science for help. Once I found some concepts, I went the easy way and said ‘hey, it’s Reaper tech!’ And of course the only way for there to be Reaper tech involved would be Cerberus.

I’m sure some of my science is a bit twisted to suit my needs despite my try to be believable, but I’m happy I appealed to the crazy, unrealistic idea of hybrids. Damocles and Cassia are important to me and I feel like they really are my babies, one of a kind. (Well, two, but whatever)

I’ve been doing more thinking than actual writing, but I have come to some neat conclusions about lesser OCs for Parable I thought I’d share.

Gelta has taken piloting lessons from Joker and Aelia. She’s a curvy woman who loves the ladies and she’s more open to FWB than Cassia is. She likes to avoid hurting anyone she’s in a relationship with, so she has a slightly bad habit of letting women overshadow her wants in a relationship. That is until Cassia, Alexia, or Mimi step in, then Gelta completely trusts their judgement. Her friends often come in between her love life because of this closeness, but it’s safe to be said that her few exes never left on bad terms because it’s just so damn hard to stay mad at her when things didn’t work out.

Alexia and Mimi both work in the clinic under Elihu, but Alexia focuses more on being a combat medic and keeping her fellow fighters alive until help arrives, Mimi stays aboard any ship or planetside to focus on the more specialized treatments. Alexia also knows cybernetics better than Mimi, but leaves the actual implementation into patients to Mimi. Mimi and Alexia like to tease one another over their hair, breasts, makeup, and other human-centric things and are practically inseparable, that and their closeness making them have a special connection even with the already tight group they all share with Cassia and Gelta.

Jur’uk (Gelta’s Brother) stays on Virmire to work and learn beneath a Wraith architect. He starts out in construction for the man’s new buildings and eventually gains his attention when Jur’uk shows great skills at mathematics and physics as well as interest in structural design.

Uriet (Turian Bully) goes through rough teenage years and young adulthood, turning to drugs and alcohol to cope. He spends most of his time under the influence and only changes his ways when he comes close to overdosing. He then cuts back his drug use to cigarettes and the occassional beer. Turning over a new leaf, he’s determined to make up for his failings, the first step changing his name (I haven’t decided what yet, but ‘new beginning’ will be the meaning). He comes to Damocles and personally asks for the chance to show he’s a new turian, not afraid to face the fact that he’s under constant scrutiny until he proves himself. He employs an omnishield in battle alongside a heavy machine gun assault rifle.

Srack plays a part in the next fic, but I can’t exactly give how. Just know that he still holds a grudge against the ‘mutant’ Vakarian twins.

That’s all I got so far, but I thought there may be some people out there who might like to know about some of the new faces in Parable 😉

Tumblr Ask: Dogtags and Ominigel for Arcanus, please? ^ ^

Arcanus

Dogtags: How do they want to be remembered?

Before Ellie, he just wanted to rise in the ranks of the Hierarchy and be known for being a great turian. He wanted to do great things, maybe be a great General and prove that he had it in him to succeed without anyone ever knowing he was biotic.

His goal is still very much the same, to be known for being a great figure, but it’s just changed on how he goes about achieving that. He wants the Wraiths to become the best mercenary company in the galaxy and he wants his name to be just as recognized. Even if he may be considered a criminal, he wants people to respect the Wraiths and respect him in kind.

Omnigel: What strategies do they prefer to use when trying to solve a problem?

Arcanus likes to know things before he needs to implement them in his life. If he can’t solve a problem with his own experience or knowledge, he isn’t too proud to reject any help from someone he trusts. Sure, he won’t just look to a stranger for help, but someone he knows? When it’s something important, he will speak with someone who knows and presents the problem to them for assistance. The smaller, less vital issues, he may try to solve himself (like when he used to care for the twins) but it’s not like he’ll deny someone when they step in.

Thanks for the asks!

Heya. So, I’ve got this question about Damo and Cass, if you want to answer it and isn’t spoilery I hope. Why do they go barefaced when Aeson doesn’t?

Not too spoilery at all! Thanks for asking, actually. 🙂

There are various reasons they don’t. They major reason has to deal with my HC on the purpose of colony markings in the current timeframe of Parable, the games, etc.

Long explanation short, it deals with pride in your ‘home’ and the show of loyalty to that home. It’s like saying ‘this is my home no matter where I go’ as well as ‘if I ever need to, I will protect my home to the death.’ Sure, they are all one people under the Hierarchy, but the reasoning still kinda stuck, only altering to fit the unified turian people. It’s a lot like the idea of it’s better to fight with something in mind than just because you’re told to. Having a visible representation of home helps turians hang onto what they fight for. (A turian doesn’t always have to wear the colony markings of the world or colony they were born)

To explain why Aeson has them: He sees the Wraiths as home. The design he wears isn’t for an actual location, but a group of people. A family. His father didn’t have paints before the Wraiths and seeing his father be accepted despite his history made Aeson proud of his home. He may not have much, but he gladly gives his loyalty and trust to the Wraiths (though, granted, it also has a lot to do with who actually leads the Wraiths, but they wouldn’t be who they are without their three leaders anyway).

Now, for Damocles: He rejects any form of loyalty against anything but himself. His father carried marks of his home on Palaven and, yet, his father can’t just go back without hiding because of the way the Galaxy now views Garrus. Damocles refuses to paint himself as anything belonging to a people that’d just as soon turn him into an experiment or crime against nature than accept him too. He cannot find any other reason to wear any Hierarchy paints. He doesn’t wear the Wraiths’ paints because – we all know him – he’s rebellious. He’s not loyal to a merc company, he’s loyal to his family and above all, himself. There’s a difference there.

Cassia: Cassia will actually use temporary paint when off Virmire (and sometimes while on it). She has a bit of the same thinking about permanent Hierarchy markings as her brother, though she’s not as angry about it. She looks at it all as a way to be free of any real obligations (even if it’s it just cultural) while her life is still so fluid and ever changing. She knows where her loyalty lies, so she doesn’t feel the need to permanently mark herself. That, and she’s actually pretty skidish about getting permanent marks. She’s a bit afraid of the process so she’d much rather have to paint them on herself without going through the permanent inking process. It’s actually something pretty common for turians that live more on ships than planetside, so she isn’t looked on with prejudice or suspicion when she’s on places like the Citadel or Palaven while she handpaints markings.

Character Playlist

So I was tagged by @wafflesrock16 a ways back to share a few songs from a character’s playlist and she chose Damocles (because of course that boy’s got some music, lol)

I’m going to cut the list to the first five that play in shuffle. They vary judging on the development in his life, so some are a bit contradictory from the beginning to end as he grows.

Where we already have a sense of what Damo thinks of Saren, I’m curious as to what Cassia thinks of Aeson as her brother’s mate/partner?

Cassia adores Aeson! And not just because he’s her brother’s best friend and mate, but just because he’s a genuinely good guy. He’s a bit shy and awkward, sure, but she fully approves of him being around in whatever capacity. She also knows he makes Damo happy, so even if Aeson was a jerk, she’d find something to love about him.

I may also already have a scene planned out of her giving him the shove into propositioning Damo, knowing full well the way the two feel about each other. 🤫
