After centuries of self-imposed isolationism following a bloody war with the semi-aquatic krogan, a young merian scout comes into contact with an Alliance ship and a fascinating human woman he can’t stop thinking about. Together, the pair forge a strong friendship and eventual romance, and attempt to show their respective races that there is more to be gained in unity than hostility.

Garrus is offered a deal with the devil and Jane learns her romance is not as secret as she thought.

Question

For those who know my medieval fic, Fibonacci: Would changing the title be more appealing and geared towards the content, or should I leave it?

Specter

cousinslavellan:

The last thing Shepard expects when she moves into the apartment is a snarky Turian ghost, but that’s what she gets.

Also on AO3 here!

“Are you sure you don’t
need anything? Even just a hand moving?”

“I’m fine, Kaiden. I
don’t have much to move.”

“But-”

“I said I’m fine.”
she snaps, then “I’m sorry, but really, I’m fine. I just need some time away.”

“Alright, Shepard.”

The apartment building
is a small, inconspicuous building on a sidestreet of a small town whose name
she doesn’t disclose to anyone but Anderson – the sides are weathered stone,
showing wear but no vandalism, aged but well kept.

The apartment itself is
small – a pre-furnished single bedroom with no separation between the kitchen
and living space, just enough room for one person. The furnishings were left by
the previous occupant, she’s told – a Turian, going by the curvature of the bed
– who had left the things there and never returned for them.

It doesn’t bother her.
She’s a Marine; she’s slept on much worse things than a Turian bed.

A week passes
uneventfully. She bumps into some of her neighbors – an Asari and a Quarian, a
Krogan and a Salarian – but never interacts more than necessary, careful to
keep conversations short and to the point.

Then things start to
move. Small things, at first. Her pen straightened and her journal flipped
shut. Her datapads piled neatly.

Nocturni Ask: will we see Garrus and Nihlus spending time with, and really enjoying Jai’s pup?

Who doesn’t enjoy Jimmu? Come on, really

While they have nothing against Jimmu, Garrus and Nihlus just don’t know what to think about a dog. They’ve never seen one in person and have so many different pieces of information coming from different sources to be able to determine what exactly a dog is and does.

They do, however, see that the dog means something to Jai. Nihlus will soon come to like Jimmu on the basis that he’s smart. He never would have thought a dog could be so smart because, well, a varren certainly isn’t. He also knows a damn varren wouldn’t be able to comfort Jai like Jimmu does. That’s impressive and Nihlus likes that. He may never think about owning one himself, but he isn’t against enjoying someone else’s.

Garrus first likes how Jimmu makes Jai feel. He wants to make her feel as good and actually uses Jimmu to learn how to comfort her in ways he wouldn’t have thought. He eventually gets to spend time with Jimmu after the time it seems Jimmu takes to keep an eye on and decide what he thinks about Garrus, lol. Once Jimmu decides he likes Garrus, the two spend time together and Jai teaches Garrus how to pet and play with Jimmu.

Thanks for the ask!

In Nocturni, what has been your favorite scene to write so far? What’s been the hardest scene to write?

I’m probably going to be shamed for this, but my favorite scene was Garrus’ transformation, lol. I know it’s a bit maniacally evil of me to have loved writing my Garr in pain, but that was one I was looking forward to since I came up with the idea 😉

The hardest scene to write would probably have to his encounter with Cydian. I wanted the reader to see how much damage a Nocturni can take, how different they are, but I didn’t want to make her sound unrealistic or immortal. I wanted people to be afraid of her, but I know that’s a fine line. I’m not sure what side of that line I’m on.

Thanks for the ask!
