OTP Theme Song – Umbrus Nocturni Shakarian

I was tagged by @thealexmachina and I figured I could do this as a bit of a celebration for being able to finish the recent chapter after so long struggling with some RL issues 🙂

A lot of this fic has Breaking Benjamin as its playlist. I don’t know what it is, but it fits these two especially. In fact, the sort of theme song for the fic is Red Cold River, but I don’t exactly know why. The fic and song aren’t the same word for word by any means, but I never fail to get in the mood when I hear it. Who knows?

But for these two, I’d say Torn in Two is really good at least for where they are currently.

I will fight this war for you
And let the dawn of love survive
Broken, I crawl back to life

I was so lucky to be able to get a commission from the lovely @savbakk on their recent commission slots and look at my amazing Fibonacci Garrus!

For those familiar with the worldbuilding I’ve been doing for that fic, you’ll remember that turians have wings and that Garrus is a Prince! I absolutely love how this came out, from his armor to the tiny details on his face and shawl, to those, of course, awesome wings. He looks perfect and just how I wanted and I’m so lucky that Sav did such a wonderful job bringing him to life from my ideas.

Seriously, go commission this artist!

Thanks again, Sav. You’re so awesome ❤️

I was tagged by the awesome @theravenofwynter. I haven’t been writing a fic, per se, but I’ll share some Fibonacci worldbuilding about Prince Garrus.

Has two versions of clothing:

Typically during travel, he will wear a hooded cloak over a slightly padded tunic and leather chest guard

—–Much like a hunter’s outfit

When he needs to represent his people (usually on the Citadel) he will wear a more suitable, less utilitarian outfit

—–He doesn’t usually like to dress this way when he is with Jon and crew because it makes him stand out, but he has no problem when alone

So I’ve been doing the math on my winged Fibonacci turians, using flying dinosaurs in particular.

These guys are going to be huge just to be able to carry their weight, but honestly? I can’t find a reason to complain. You know me, I love my size differences 😉

So the average turian height (without including the height that their folded wings add) is around 7 ft, give or take.

Their weight (wings included) would be around 250lbs and 275lbs (~113 – 125kg)

That would mean that a wingspan – and I’m even fudging the math because that kind of weight would need a hell of a lot more length to the wings – is going to be about 32 – 35′ (~10 – 11m).

Whoa…

Although … I’m kinda digging it.

Just out of curiosity, and if you don’t want to share that’s fine, but how do you do your character sheets? Is there a template you use or something?

I don’t mind at all! 😀 (Get ready for a long reply, though)

I actually have two kinds of Character Sheets, one for OCs (that I often use in my original works writing) and one that’s a simple list for canon characters. I’m currently using the latter for Fibonacci worldbuilding since I won’t be changing the basic characteristics of the already established characters.

I got the basic design for the OC character sheet from the internet somewhere and modified it in Google Docs, but I’m sure you can find the original in a Google search. I just like my version because it’s not an image, so I can directly write into it and I have spaces where I can even use images to give myself an idea of how I’ll describe something or someone.

Here is the Google Doc for the OCs Character Sheet

I did the same in my Fibonacci worldbuilding, but I don’t often share those images with you guys because I didn’t go through and give credit to artists. (I can share pictures I’ve found that don’t have artists however).

More Fibonacci Worldbuilding

So I finished the actual species information, so I thought I’d share 🙂

Volus – The Merchant

Appearance

Are around 3’ to 3’6” tall

Look very similar to an shorter snouted echidna

Older volus grow spines, but it can make it harder to mine, so many trim them

Longer spines can be used as a status symbol because it shows that the individual is usually high enough not to need to work the mines

Attire

Heavily inspired by dwarven attire

It is very uncommon to see a volus completely unclothed, though not all are fully covered

Often wear helmets outside of their caverns due to the fact that their eyes are accustomed to darkness and too sensitive to sunlight

The material of the helmet is indicative of the wearer’s standing and wealth

Metals are incorporated in many volus’ clothing

Many of those that travel outside of Irune tend to incorporate jewels or more expensive metals to show off their people’s wealth

Armor

Though they wear metals, they do not actively make armor for themselves, preferring to have others (typically turians) fight their battles

Religion

Volus do not have a set religion as they believe no set deity is responsible for devising trade and dealing with coin

Because is it simple mathematics

They are free to chose to worship as they wish

Politics

Vol Protectorate: Rather than being a fully sovereign government in its own right, Irune is a client state of the Turian Hierarchy. In return for falling under the protective umbrella of the turian military, the volus pay a tax to Palaven, as well as deferring to the Primarch in all foreign policy matters

Internal matters are dealt with either by a certain region’s representative group

The introduction of mounted animals to pull carts for volus brought about an easier way to converse with other settlements

As such, when politics involve more than one city or settlement, then representatives deal together to find a solution

Combat

Have done away with domestic war in Irune and do not see it as necessary

Any conflict is short and usually ends in social castigation, bargaining agreements, or harsh economic sanctions

Mount

Turians introduced the volus to the lacerta

Volus then used the lacerta to pull carts and wagons, transporting goods and individuals

Volus genders do not seem to have a distinct difference in the sound of their voices

–Female voices are only a fraction higher than males

—It seems only peoples with really sensitive hearing can tell the difference

–As a result, volus do not immediately take offense to any mistakes in gender

—They don’t however see any reason for others to ask

—Only few actually tell other people their true gender

—-Then they prefer to be called as such and often take offense if not, finding it rude to have their preferences ignored

—It is typical of many volus that make a living in the Citadel to distinguish their gender in order to limit any outside prejudice towards their people

Best known for their work establishing a unified system of coin exchange and maintaining this balance and order through banks and organizing the trade markets

Book of Plenix calls for charity and forgiveness of debts in case the volus do become involved in war

Have two names but no family names. According to volus sensibilities one cannot own a person, so using a family name would essentially be laying claim to their offspring

Nonverbal cues include laying one’s palms flat on a table, an action roughly analogous to humans steepling their fingers

I was tagged by @mosaiccreme and I tag @wafflesrock16 , @cousinslavellan , @saphistar and @theravenofwynter but only if you want to!

I’m not currently working on a fic chapter, but I am doing some Fibonacci world building so I’ll share some of that 😀

Some info on the batarians

Political power is held by those with the most gold

  • An emperor gains power with gold and often violence
  • Emperors can have advisors, but have final word
  • Overseers of larger settlements have control unless emperor steps in

Combat

  • While most settlements are often in competition, fear of punishment keeps all batarians under imperial control in times of war
  • If the emperor is not skilled at military strategy, a trusted general will be chosen
